The association of private Hydropower Plants are against the new
electricity price that will be established between them and the Albanian
Power Corporation (KESH).
The new government formula, based on the Energy price in the Hungarian stock market, reduces the price for private hydropower plants from 9.2 that it is currently to 6.4 ALL.
“Why do they need to rush a government decision that is based on a foreign market, but that doesn’t take in consideration the other costs. By what I know, there is a stock market for the nuclear and thermal energy, which is not renewable”, says Eugen Lici, Director of AREA.
Small producers say that by reducing the price with 30%, the government favors the sale, not the production of energy. They say that since the government has not paid the 60 million EUR debt, the new formula will turn into a failure for the realized investments and will close its door to future investments.
“The financial damage caused to the producers might mount to 30% or 35% of reduced incomes. This would force them to sell energy under cost”, Lici says.
The Hydropower Plants Associations say they are against a higher production price than that of the import. As for the financial crisis of the corporation, the association says that only for 2014, KESH has had a profit of 56 million EUR.
