The Durres archaeological museum, the biggest in Albania, has remained
closed for the past four years with its 3600 artifacts. It will finally
open its doors in early spring, after a long restoration.

Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Minister of Culture, Mirela Kumbaro, explained that this museum has not been restored since 1950.

“The museum has been closed for the past four years. The restoration works started four months ago. The work was done with a very modest fund thanks to the hard work of these people”, Kumbaro declared.

The Mayor of Durres, Vangjush Dako, underlined the importance of this museum for tourists during summer.

“I invite all citizens to come and visit this city. I am convinced that they will see a transformed museum”, Dako declared.
