Dr.Mel Ostreni: “Test B” of the anti-doping has never rejected the first test

The doping scandal of the Albanian weightlifting team comes because of
“Stanazolol”, a substance widely used for therapeutic services in humans
and animals.

The sportive doctor and doping agent of WADA in Albania, Mel Ostreni, says that this hormone similar to testosterone is powerful and with fewer side effects that is used in medicine, but not in sport. It reinforces the muscular fibers but without a long-term effect.

The Doping Agency in Albania is obliged to make tests before important international championships, but this has not been realized due to a lack of funds.  However, Dr.Ostreni has received the tests of Godelli before the last time he traveled to Greece.

“I took a test sample in early 2014, when we received an order from the WADA to test them. We took their blood samples in June 2014 and they resulted negative”, Mel Ostreni says.

But is it possible that Test B will give a different result from Test A?

“It has never happened, because it is the same urine sample. If Test A is done to see if there are substances, Test B simply shows the quantity of the dose and for how long it has been taken”, Ostreni says.
