By the end of Italy’s six-month Presidency of the European Union, the
Italian Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, held a speech at the European
Parliament of Strassburg, where he expressed his stance in favor of the
integration of Albania and other Balkan countries in the EU.

“Europe cannot do without Albania, Serbia, Montenegro, and we cannot allow this discussion to be led by uncertainty and fear. Otherwise, we will remain behind in this fast-changing world”, Renzi declared.

Renzi valued the contribution of Italy during the six months of Presidency in the EU, in their efforts to return hope to the next generations.

The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, thanked his Italian counterpart through a Twitter message.

“Thanking Matteo Renzi for his excellent speech in Strasbourg. Europe must end fear before it is too late”, Rama writes on Twitter.
