The Urban Construction Inspectorate has blocked the works of a high-rise project near the Artificial Lake of Tirana.

The National Agency of Territory Planning has not accepted the permit given by the Tirana Municipality to Gener 2.

The Agency says that the decision for the constrution permit is based on acts that have not taken any legal power, and that it has been published incomplete, without the respective map.

The decision for giving the construction permit was taken after August 22nd, 2014, when the National Council of Territory suspended the development permit from municipalities and communes, until the new local units were constituted.

The announcement of the National Inspectorate of Urban Constructions underlines that the decisions of January 6th of this year, the National Committee of Dams has invalidated the decision that this institution has taken in July and August 2014, for the approval of the hydro-technical study for the dam safety of the Artificial Lake, and the protection measures.

Based on the violations, the decisions fall against the law of territory planning.

Although the works have been interrupted, the Tirana Municipality says they are not aware of any decision taken by the Construction Inspectorate, since they have not been notified officially.
