Giant drug lab discovered in Elbasan

A giant drug lab has been discovered in Elbasan, this Wednesday morning, in the Labinot Fushe area.

The lab was used for producing strong narcotic substances. It was built inside a former military building that was abandoned in the Labinot-Fushe area of Elbasan, where the police seized 100 kg of narcotics, possibly heroin.

10 people were arrested, three of whom were foreigners, two Columbian and one Turkish citizen.

Their names are: Ermal Hoxha, resident in Tirana; Saimir Batkum, resident in Tirana; Gentian Gjonaj, resident in Elbasan; Arjan Dalipi, resident in Elbasan; Ilir Hyseni, Klement Dalipi, residents in Elbasan, and the Columbian citizens, Cesar Avila and Wasler Moreno.

The operation led by the Albanian police and coordinated by Interpol and Europol, comes after an investigation that went on for several months.

The drug arrived mixed with palm oil from Latin American countries and it was divided here to be sent through Europe.

The General Chief of Police, Artan Didi, arrived on the scene with Prosecutors of the Serious Crimes.

The operation is still being held in Elbasan, Tirana, Durres and Fier, to identify other people involved in this international drug traffic network that brought the discovery of the biggest drug lab in our country.
