Two essential documents for the case against the Mayor of Vlore went missing at his office.

Sources from the Prosecution say that Gjika had testified that the protocol of the meeting of the National Territory Regulation in 2011, when the permit was given, was at his office.

But the Prosecutors didn’t find it, after checking all documents. The decision was taken one day ago by the Court, together with the order for seizing the 11-store building.

Sources from the Prosecution say that the Municipality didn’t cooperate and did not open the door. The procedure requires a presence of the municipality representatives during the opening of the office, but no one was there at the moment. The Prosecutor sent to the Mayor a written request for cooperation, reminding him of the legal consequences of obstructing justice.

After not being able to find the key, the Prosecutors were forced to break the door down, in presence of Mr.Gjika’s lawyer, the Cabinet Director, the Secretary and the Vice Secretary.

After searching all the documents, the Prosecutors did not find the one that Gjika had declared of having at his office. He lawyer of the Mayor called the procedure illegal.

For the falsification of the documents for the construction of a 11-store building in Vlore, the Court, by request of the Prosecution, gave the arrest measure for a high-rank official of the Vlore Municipality, for the builder and for Mayor Gjika. Due to health problems, Gjika was let free, but bound to appear in court.
