“The Western Balkan countries are not progressing equally in their EU
integration path. The EU is also not progressing equally with the
integration of these countries. This is way the Western Balkan countries
need more cooperation between each other”, declared the Albanian Prime
Minister, Edi Rama, during his speech at the Southeastern Europe
conference in Tirana.

“Balkan is not walking equally towards the EU. There are different paces. Not in the sense of the aspiration and the desire to be part of the EU, but in the sense of the relations between different governments with the media freedom and justice. The EU also is not walking towards the Eu project in a homogenous method, by increasing the regional cooperation in transportation, energy and the creation of an integrated market. Without forgetting that with all of this together, we will not be able to reach what we want if we do not make a coordinated regional policy as regards the EU”, Rama declared.

The Prime Minister declared that the countries of the region should exploit the special gifts of nature and the geographic position, which would generate better employment and a better economy for the citizens.

“Let’s engage for creating a regional market and integrated space with a clear objective to increase employment and market exchange”, Rama declared.
