The leader of the Democratic Party of Albania, Lulzim Basha, continued
his meetings with the Spokesperson of the CDU at the Foreign Commission
of Bundestag, Roderich Kiesewetter.
Basha also spoke about the accusations against Ilir Meta and the opposition’s request for his resignation. After the meeting, in an interview for Deutsche Welle, the German lawmaker underlined that the resignation of the Albanian Parliament Speaker is an internal matter of Albania.
“The internal Albanian politics is the one that needs to find a solution for this”, declared Kiesewetter. However, he said that when there are serious accusations, one could see the possibility of leaving the post vacant temporarily.
Wanting to avoid any misconception, Kiesewetter reiterated that it is always up to the Albanian policy to resolve these matters.
He added that the way how cases are resolved in Albania influences the evaluation for the EU negotiations.
In Berlin, Basha also met with the collaborators of Chancellor Angela Merkel.
