Italian-Albanian authorities arrest Islamic extremists

An anti-terror operation of the Italian police forces, in cooperation
with the Albanian one, destroyed an ISIS cell that was trying to find
new recruits.

The police arrested one Albanian and one Italian citizen originated from Morocco. The Albanian police arrested one extremist in Kavaja, Albania. The three of them have cooperated for recruits. The Italian from Morocco, according to the Italian Police, has also traveled to Albania.

Top Channel’s journalist in Rome, Irida Cami, said that the operation was held this Wednesday morning after a two-year investigation in the northern areas of Brescia and Torino, where one of the Albanian citizens was arrested. The accusation is “recruiting for terror purposes and propagating terror crimes”.

The Italian citizen might e the author of a text that was published in Italian online, which is considered as the first ISIS document in Italian.

The person arrested in Albania is the 38-year-old Alban Haki Elezi, born in Rrakull, Kavaja. Although the 38-year-old has been under surveillance and was never seen making any recruit in Albania, he was arrested for Interpol Roma. The Court of Brescia had an arrest order for this citizens, over terror charges.

Sources from the Anti-Terror Directory said for Top Channel that the person arrested in Kavaja was helping with the recruit, while his relative in Italy was suspected of having an organizative role. The police say that the parents in law of Elezi are both in Syria, and that his brother in law has died for ISIS. Police is ooking for two other persons, while the family of Alban Elezi has been staying in Syria for a long time. He has left Albania earlier and became an ISIS member.
