The Chief of the International Observers Mission, Audry Glover, has
introduced this Monday the preliminary report for the local elections.

“There was a clear choice between the candidates in these elections and the campaign was better than before. But the lack of political will by the bigger parties to implement the legal structure has undermined the process”, according o Glover.

“We think that not every request has been fulfilled, ad some legal deadlines were not respected. Some decisions taken by the Central Election Commission was against the law”.

“Some Zonal Election Commissions have not functioned properly, because they didn’t have enough electoral materials. There are remarks for the media too. The influence of parties has limited the freedom of speech”, Glover declared.

By underlining that the elections have been positive in general, the Chief of Observers noted some problems, such as group voting and procedural mistakes.

“The movement of of militants have undermined the trust of this process. ODIHR will monitor the remaining part”, Glover declared.

She added that the final report will be published after two months, with the respective recommendations.
