A debae was held at the Ismail Qemali University on Vlore, focusing on
the judiciary system of Albania and the need to reform it.

The British Ambassador, Nicholas Cannon, declared that the judiciary process is difficult but important.

“There is a group of judges who act in group and use the judiciary for profits, by buying and selling justice. Judiciary corruption makes war against crime very difficult”, Cannon declared.

He added that even if the police and the prosecution do their job, a corrupted judiciary will not allow measures against crime to be taken.

“The European Commission has identified the judiciary as the main obstacle for the EU. Albania’s integration will be blocked without the reform”, the Ambassador declared.

He added that a small group of people, less than 100, are poisoning the institutions and the Albanian society by withholding the future of an entire nation.

Andi Dobrushi, executive director of the Open Society Albania, declared that the problems of constitutional amends can be crossed through impartialiy and transparency.
