NIshani meets Nuland: Judiciary reform, our priority

President Bujar Nishani held a visit with the US State Secretary for
European and Euro-Asian Matters, Victoria Nuland, and her delegation.

In this meeting they discussed about the judiciary reform. The President expressed the commitment and need for this reform to be qualitative, promising and all-inclusive.

“The judiciary reform remains our priority. It must be of quality and promising. It cannot be divided into political and technical. The main challenge has always been related to the implementation process of the laws and reforms. Hence, it is a responsibility and political will”.

The Albanian President valued the participation of the opposition in the special parliamentary commission for the judiciary reform.

They treated with interest the need to cooperate for preventing the expansion of violent extremism and with terrorist elements.

President Nishani identified the initiatives undertaken for encouraging the highest clergymen of our country so they can help in this direction and reinforce the co-existence and mutual respect between people.

The President expressed his gratitude to the US for the attention shown on our developments, and underlined that thanks to this attention, Albania is making many principles advance, which are related to the reforms, the reinforcing of democratic institutions, the rule of law and the free market economy.

The President valued the signing of the Strategic Partnership between the two countries, considering it as very important especially for our country.

As for the peace and stability in Balkan, the President underlined that the presence and attention of the US in Balkan remains vital, since the efforts for destabilizing the region are a serious challenge.
