In the last parliamentary session before the summer holiday, the
Albanian Parliament passed the law on tourism with 79 votes in favor and
13 against.

The majority says that the new law will end the chaotic constructions with family businesses, and will bring our neighbors closer with tourist zones and resorts, but that didn’t convince the opposition, who said that the law doesn’t have the necessary requirements to protect the coastline from constructions to close to the sea.

Despite the guarantees given by Minister Ahmetaj, especially for ending the property title issues that have always been present in the past 22 years, the former Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, said that the law serves to close criminal interests of the Prime Minister, Edi Rama.

The law also enables a complete evaluation, by avoiding this way the several stars placed by hotels themselves abusively.

The Mps zof the majority demanded that the draft law should be followed by some fiscal measures too. They left the Minister a three month deadline to bring a package with easier taxes for the tourism industry.
