German Migration Entity: 30.000 Albanians in Germany

The President of the Federal Entity for Migration and Refugees in
Germany, Manfred Schmidt, said that 30.000 asylum seekers have come from
Italy in just a short time, and this number is concerning. The total
number of asylum seekers in Germany for this year has reached 450.000,
mostly from Syria.

But Schmidt is concerned that Albania takes the second place, and asylum seekers from Albania have very few chances to receive a positive answer. Schmidt guaranteed that those who already are in Germany will be returned, especially now that they have started the process for accelerated procedures. Schmidt says the asylum seekers from Albania have very weak reasons for the applications and will be banned from Germany.

As for the payments that have been offered for voluntary return, Schmidt says that this took place in only one commune. But the IOM organization will cover the travel expense for returning the Albanian asylum seekers.

As for the propositions coming from various parties in Germany, for granting working visas, Schmidt gave a positive signal, saying that Germany has the most liberal system in Western Europe as regards working permits, and they might make it even easier for countries like Albania, so that professionals can work in Germany. This is also for showing that asylum seeking is the wrong path for getting integrated in Germany.

Manfred Schmidt spoke about the conference that will be held in early September within German states and Angela Merkel. They will discuss the asylum seeking issues which have increased drastically. The second conference will discuss if they stand or not, and what results will they bring, and if it is necessary to intervene and take other measures, according to Schmidt.

If the situation continues like this, whith a high number of asylum seekers, Schmidt doesn’t exclude the return of the visa regime. Schmidt made an appeal to the Albanian people to not trust voices of human traffickers who promise easy access to asylum.
