Different state institution signed on Saturday an agreement to protect private property in Albania. From Vlora, one of the most problematic cities in the country regarding private property, Albanian Government, together with State Police, Attorney General and Property Compensation Agency agreed to tackle the problem that has hampered for years Albania’s hope for EU integration.

Prime Minister Edi Rama warned those who unlawfully arrogated state or private property will not exploit it. “Today’s agreement has an empiric importance for a long and difficult project. Success in this battle has an historic importance for the integrity and economic development of this country”, Rama said, warning to focus not only to abusers but also corrupted judges who helped abusers prevail.

He also thanked the Attorney General willingness to cooperate into the project and made it clear that even when statute of limitations has passed and wrongdoers cannot be legally prosecuted any longer, the property they unlawfully claimed will return to the righteous owner.
