Immediately after gaining full membership in the coalition of European Popular Parties, the Democratic Party denounced the socialist government for abolishing democratic standards in Albania. Lulzim Basha attended the meeting of the biggest political coalition in the European Parliament, where the main topic of discussion migration.
DP reported many German MPs expressed their concern about the high number of asylum seekers from Albania and supported the opposition opinion that the Rama government was to blame. One of the most critical voices was Doris Pack, a longtime member of Angela Merkel’s CDU.
“Some Mayors are charged and maybe even sentenced for criminal activities abroad in the past, while the Parliament has also many deputies with a criminal past. This is not politics. In this way people loose trust, the most important thing they have”, Pack said, dismissing any special relation between Prime Minister Rama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
