The Albanian Constitution will change again after the government amended
the draft for the appointing of public officials. Minister Ermonela
Felaj introduced the draft-law passed by the government, which will have
an effect on the current officials.

Felaj said that the law will be valid also for those who have been already appointed, and no individual with a criminal record will be allowed to work for the government.

The law will act also on those who have committed crimes and have received a sentence only from the Court of First Degree. They will be suspended until the verdict is final.

As for those who have been sentenced, the ban will be based on the seriousness of their crime, starting from a life ban for serious crimes, 20 years after serving the sentence for other crimes, and 10 years for those who have been imprisoned for not less than two years.

Minister Felaj says that the verification of the candidates will be done through the institutions and they will be held responsible for false declarations.
