“Bankers: We’ll interrupt production if accounts not released”

“Bankers Petroleum” threatens to interrupt the oil production in Patos
Marinza because the Tax Directory is not implementing the order of the
Arbitration Court to unfreeze its accounts.

The Canadian company says this decision has put their operations in difficulty.

“Bankers” say last week they exported only 85% of the produced quantity because they could not pay for transportation.

The company says they kept producing in lower quantities and promised to reduce production even further or even interrupt their entire operations if the accounts are not set free.

The Tax Office blocked the accounts of Bankers to collect the 75 million of taxes they are accused of having evaded.

Bankers asked the International Chamber of Commerce to suspend this order and says that although the Court of Arbitration has ordered the authorities to unblock the accounts, the government of Albania is not implementing it.
