The German Ambassador to Tirana, Helmut Hoffman, took advantage of
December’s atmosphere to answer to whoever that goes against the
judiciary reform.

Hoffman asked what foreigners would think when they see the perception in Albania of the judiciary.

“What would think a foreign observer? The reform provides good steps, although there is a legal theory which says that the best system in the world cannot stop prosecutors and judges to make favors. What is needed, is making verifications from the justice leaders and it should become a farce. It shjould be clear that the legal instruments  will be needed every time it is necessary”, Hoffman declared.

The Vice Secretary of State, James Walsh, sees the justice reform as vital for a country that is led by the rule of law. Walsh said there are reports for the Albanian courts and prosecutions full of corruption, influence from corporate and political leaders. Walsh said that a strong political will is needed for this.

The French Ambassador to Tirana expressed his reserves about adding more access in the Constitutional Court and the hierarchy of norms, if our country will have the Constitution or the European Treaties.

The President of the Constitutional Court, Bashkim Dedja, said that the final draft should undergo a debate among interested parties.
